"For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a
lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To
be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a
palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being selected is a nightmare. It
means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her.
Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want.
Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to
question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's
always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined."
Kiera Cass is a
genius. The show the Bachelor as well as the Bachelorette have been going on for
quite a while and I’m surprised no one has really capitalized on that idea yet.
This book series takes place long after World War III and America is now New
Asia. The King and Queen’s son is ready to take a bride, instead of marrying
royalty he will marry one of the commoners in his kingdom and thus begins the
selection. The imagery in this story as well as the story itself is awesome! I
loved reading about all the dresses, the dinners, and the conversations between
all the girls and the prince. Highly, highly recommend this series! Even the
love triangle has a promising start. Also the cover art for this book is awesome! I love America in the blue dress and also how she is hiding a lot of her face it somewhat
foreshadows her personality in this book.
Rating: 10 out of 10. The imagery in this book as well as
the story are just amazing. The plot isn’t just about a prince trying to find a
girl, no these people are going through a mini war with rebels as well. It’s
fun to see how that influences everyone’s actions and decisions.
Content Rating: 2 (12-18). There is one or two kisses in this
book. Other than that this book is relatively clean! If this were made into a
movie (which it probably is if the rumors are to believed!) I could see it
being PG. Also one of the maids that is assigned to America (the main
character) discusses how one of her other maids was almost raped during a rebel
raid but other than that this book is pretty clean!
