The Body Finder (Book 1 of the Body Finder Series) Kimberly Derting

Summary:
"Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself."

This book is the first book in the body finder series. As a big fan of the show Criminal Minds these books are somewhat similar to the show.  Throughout the book Derting gives the reader the killers point of view so that we can understand his psychology as well as what his specific issues are that led him to this point. Plus this is a really good mystery novel! Derting gives the reader enough clues to figure out who the killer is, or at least where he is in this novel. I am a bit conflicted about the clues she leaves in this particular book, because throughout the book I was mentally screaming at the other characters because the killer was there the whole time! But that was simply part of the fun in this book. Also I think this also works as a romance novel as well because Violet's best friend has made it out of the friend zone! Congrats to him! All in all this book was amazing, and will always be one of my favorites!

Rating: 9 out of 10. The only reason I docked a point was because Violet is a little to ambitious, I mean it almost seems like she has zero regard for her safety in this book and that kinda bothered me but other than that its a good read!

Content Rating: 3 (16-18): I gave it this recommended age group because this again is similar to a Criminal Minds episode. Its not nearly as graphic or descriptive but again this book deals with the main character looking for a serial killer. There is an instance of teen partying (alcohol is involved), and there is also teen romance as well.
